Participants master their individual skills and will also learn to work with others in teams to accomplish challenging primitive skills tasks in Cacapon’s back country.

This Trek involves moderate to difficult hiking, backpacking, back country camping and team work as we develop our capabilities based on the 10 essential wilderness skills:  planning, fire starting, sheltering, survival kits, rescue signaling, foraging, navigation, snares and traps, finding water, and first aid.  These same skills are also vitally important for emergencies at home (especially in winter) and when traveling the back roads where there is always the danger of becoming stranded.

This program is built around a series of challenging field exercises that will focus on solutions using key skills.  Each participant will have the opportunity to use their own backpack, equipment and hiking gear along with the equipment and materials provided.

What to Bring:  synthetic quick-dry/wicking clothes, hiking shoes/boots (no sandals), personal backpack, personal hiking gear, personal hygiene items, and rain gear.
