At our recent Edible Plants and Trees Presentation several folks asked to see my favorite reference books for Plant and Tree Identification. Below are several I use regularly. The Wild Plants guide has adequate drawings and illustrations of the plants, with some color plates. But, I like using the Guide to Medicinal Plants as a cross reference for identification because that book has excellent color photographs even for the edible plants. Most wild plants are both edible and have some medicinal value or did have at some point in history. In coming months I'll add to this list and will offer reviews on the best ones in coming issues of the newsletter.
